Congratulations to Conrad, Andrea, Lucas & Sennan who scored above 85 & 90 on their RCM exam this June! Recital is much needed for students to rehearse their pieces on the stage before their actual exam.

About the Program:
Music is another form of language!
1. Express inner feelings by creating stories through music
2. Understand musical ideas, style and basic history in different form of music (All Era)
3. Compose and make your own kinds of music
4. Be creative and make up stories on songs that you hear and play
5. Explore the sounds of the piano (Low like dinosaurs or high like a bird)
6. Keeping a fun, energetic and interactive learning environment
Basic Theory:
- Music notation
- Note values, rhythm
- Major and minor keys
- Intervals
- Chords
- Semitones, whole tones and accidentals
- Finding key of the music or a melody
- Learning meter and basic time signatures
Technique:
- Developing basic motor skills, technical control, finger strength and hand independence, two hands coordination
- Developing healthy technique such as sitting posture, arm weight, hand position, thumb movement and finger movements
- Basic articulation touches : legato, staccato and detached
- Fingering strategy to create smooth hand movement
- Approaches to tone production
- Dynamics: understand the style and the tone of the music, express the music by telling stories, create a mood in music by playing soft, loud and more…
- Sight reading: music notation, how to read notes quick
- Ear Training: rhythm clapping, melody playback, identify intervals and chords
- Finding musical patterns: developing quick sight playing and sense of rhythm
- Speed: practice with the metronome: achieving a steady tempo from very slow to slow, slow to fast and fast to very fast

Performance is an experience! We work towards perfection, sometimes there will be mistakes, but that is okay! I’m glad that all students who joined had such a memorable experience in their musical journey. Enjoy and have fun as always!

We are so proud of all the students who did an amazing work at their performances at the recital. Consistency is the key when it comes to practicing for only a few minutes on the stage. Students can also learn and gain a lot by watching other students play too!
